Computers can also be used for video communication and conference calls, making telecommuting to work an option for many employees. The ease of the communication process has seen a decentralisation of the workplace, with many employees doing exactly this and managing to work at home from their own computers.

The workplace has changed a lot over the last 30 years, with a modern office looking very different today than it would have in the past. Most of these changes are related to the way that computers have taken over from other devices and now act as the centre pieces of the office environment.
